Latest acquisition comes six months after Newcastle practice bought up Haskoll
Ryder Architecture has continued a run of acquisitions by taking over London practice Doone Silver Kerr.
The move will see 10 staff from the practice join Ryder at a new London office. Partner John Silver is retiring. Ryder said the latest acquisition would take its headcount to “almost 330”.
Currently based at Old Street, Doone Silver Kerr counts Birmingham office development 103 Colmore Row and the shipping-container-based Stow-Away Hotel near London’s Waterloo Station among recent projects.
Ryder’s acquisition of Doone Silver Kerr comes six months after itbought retail, urban-design and placemaking specialist Haskoll.
Newcastle-based Ryder already has outposts in Glasgow, London, Liverpool, Manchester, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Vancouver.
Managing partner Mark Thompson said the firm’s latest expansion coincided with the opening of a new central London office at 1930s Middlesex House in Cleveland Street, which was redesigned by John McAslan & Partners two decades ago.

Doone Silver Kerr director Ross Kerr will lead a new team within Ryder.
Although Ryder has only announced its acquision of Doone Silver Kerr this week, Companies House data indicates the takeover was effected in late May.
