Invisible Studiohas completed a yoga studio at The Newt in Somerset, adding another structure to the 30 acre garden estate.

Home to gardens, lakes and woodland, the new yoga studio aims to provide an immersive experience for guests, designed with natural materials and a single window that opens to the sky.

The studio sits behind an existing gym, created by the same designer, which features a large glazed opening that faces onto a garden, offering views of the estate.

While the yoga studio maintains a similar design language of rammed stone on the exterior, it looks upwards rather than to the side.

The curved, copper-clad roof is topped by a single large pane of glass which means the occupants are not distracted by the comings and goings of the surrounding hotel and can instead focus on self-reflection.

As an obvious hard-wearing choice for sports environments, beech wood was selected to line the interior. The curve of the roof is lined with timber slats, drawing the eye towards the sky, while shelves and cupboards that are set into the walls are lined with copper.

Piers Taylor, director of Invisible Studio said: “We’re delighted to add this new space and collaborate once again with The Newt. Yoga provides a fantastic opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and we wanted to provide the ideal conditions for that. Small structures can have a big impact and we hope that guest will enjoy this retreat within a retreat, gazing up at the clouds and sun above.”
