Practice creates futuristic garden for China conference

Architectural studio Chetwoods created a sci-fi vision of the garden for the United Nations COP15 Biodiversity Conference in China this month.

The London-based practice’s Future City Garden was designed to encapsulate the event’s core ideals and featured a representation of the sun at its centre using a hydrogen fuel cell to highlight an innovative form of clean and efficient energy.

Five further gardens radiate out from the Future City Garden, relating to the themes of food, sleep, shelter, air and water. The landscaped public plaza covers 3,000sq m and will remain in situ as an educational template demonstrating urban-design principles.
