The International Olympic Committee (IOC) celebrated its 125th anniversary on June 23 – the day the organisation referred to as Olympic Day. The event was also marked by another significant milestone, the opening of the organisation’s £118m headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Olympic House houses 500 IOC employees under one roof for the very first time and offers 25,000sq m of accommodation.

It has been designed by Danish architect 3XN, and as well as its historic and sporting pedigree it also marks another major achievement: it has been accredited as one of the most sustainable corporate headquarters in the world.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the US Green Building Council’s sustainable building accreditation programme but is globally recognised as a sustainability evaluation benchmark and is mirrored by equivalent national schemes such as BREEAM in the UK and SNBS in Switzerland.
