Perhaps it’s the Pisces in me, but there’s just something really amazing about water. The pure joy of getting wet is universal. And we all need to do more of it.
This is what underpins my choice of the Lido on Plymouth seafront. As well as fulfilling my love of sea swimming, it has personal connections as it was the site of my first date with Alex [de Rijke, co-founder of dRMM], and our first kiss. He took me on a date to these extraordinary places in Plymouth including Brunel’s Saltash or Royal Albert railway bridge and the Lido. So as well as the romance, there’s also an infrastructure aspect to my choice since the lido is a wonderful by-product of Brunel’s west coast mainline, which turned Plymouth from a purely industrial hub to a tourist destination.
